Joel Bardolet (violin), Pau Codina (cello), and Marc Heredia (piano) founded the Trio Fortuny in 2016, a chamber ensemble that has been making a prominent place for itself in the music scene thanks to its musical excellence as a group, also stemming from their very high level as solo musicians. This year, they embark on the second year of their three-season artistic residency at the Palau de la Música Catalana.

During the 2023-24 season, the Catalan trio presented two programs as original as they were unconventional, exploring their personal individuality and musical signature as a trio; they did so through works by composers as diverse as Kurtág, Kodály, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Schönberg, Mel Bonis, Bloch, or Joan Magrané, and also collaborating with the dance company Mal Pelo. This 2024-25 season, the musicians delve into the musical universe of Dmitri Shostakovich to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of his death, and include in the first of the planned programs his two Trios, combined with works by J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart. Meanwhile, the second program of the season will feature the work "Fragments Fortuny" by the Reus-based composer Josep Maria Guix. This piece is inspired by the paintings of Marià Fortuny, which gives its name to the ensemble. The program will also include Beethoven's Archduke Trio and Schumann's Arabesque and Trio No. 2.
