Joel Bardolet (violin), Pau Codina (cello) and Marc Heredia (piano) are three of the most outstanding performers of their generation in Catalonia. In 2016 they decided to embark on a folded path to make chamber music with the premises of the investigation of honest and open communication with the public. They begin artistic residency for three seasons at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
The Catalan trio has conceived two original and unconventional programs for this initial season as residents. In the first, the Trio in A minor, op. 50 by Tchaikovsky, which is preceded by two works where the trio divides: In nomino, for solo violin, by György Kurtág and the Sonatina for cello and piano by Zoltán Kodály. Rounding off the program is Ferdinand Ries' arrangement for piano trio of Beethoven's Symphony No. 2. The second program, with the collaboration of the MalPelo dance company, revolves around the night as its theme and includes Eduard Steuermann's arrangement for piano trio of Schönberg's The Transfigured Night and works by less popular composers, such as the Swiss-American Ernest Bloch or the French Miel Bonis. The Trío Fortuny leaves room for new national creations, including Trois Nocturnes by Joan Magrané.
