Details
This concert is part of the Barcelona Obertura Ciutat de Clàssica festival, which is held from March 19 to April 11, 2025 in various auditoriums and palces in the city.
Bach's St. Matthew Passion is widely regarded as one of the most important compositions in the history of music. It premiered on Good Friday in 1727 and has since then continued to impress generations of all backgrounds and beliefs thanks to its powerful combination of music and text, which makes it complex, direct and cathartic at the same time. As every year, it returns to the Palau de la Música, this time with the RIAS Kammerchor and the AKAMUS ensemble, both from Berlin, conducted by Justin Doyle.
