The complete fifteen string quartets composed by Dmitri Shostakovich between 1938 and 1974 (one year before his death) is one of the essential corpus of the repertoire for this formation. The Gerhard Quartet –formed by Lluís Castán, Judit Bardolet, Miquel Jordà and Jesús Miralles– knows these sincere, contrasting and complex pieces well, from which it offers a selection of three in a concert dedicated to the Russian composer.
