Details

Once again this year, the Quartet Casals returns to the Palau de la Música –its first performance with the addition of Cristina Cordero on viola– this time with a repertoire by Arriaga, Fábregas and Brahms. More than twenty years have passed since the first work was recorded, still under the influence of the classics, although already with signs of an incipient romanticism. Brahms has subsequently been incorporated into the Quartet’s discography, which, beyond its specialisations, has revealed itself as an excellent instrument at the service of composers of all periods. The premiere of the Quartet de corda by Elisenda Fábregas, commissioned by the group and the Palau de la Música, confirms this composer as one of the outstanding names in Catalan musical creation of our days.
