Celebration

We begin our 20th-anniversary festivities with a very special concert at the Palau de la Música Catalana. World-renowned violinist Lisa Batiashvili will join us for a performance of Mozart’s sublime Violin Concerto No. 5. In the second half, the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, conducted by our Musical and Artistic Director Tomàs Grau, will perform Beethoven’s powerful Fifth Symphony. An exceptional way to start celebrating our first two decades of passion for music.

Extraordinary Music

Launching our 20th-anniversary celebrations with Mozart and Beethoven in the same concert is a guarantee of excellence. And with an international artist of the stature of Georgian violinist Lisa Batiashvili as our guest soloist, we have all the ingredients for a wonderful evening of music. Mozart himself was an excellent violinist even as a child, but he left it to the professionals to perform his showpiece concertos. He was just 19 years old when he wrote Concerto No. 5, which is full of lively, direct melodies. The frenetic pace suddenly introduced in the third movement gives the work its “Turkish Concerto” nickname. Beethoven’s Fifth is quite simply a masterpiece of the symphonic repertoire. The excitement of a live performance reminds us that there is much more to this symphony than its hugely famous first four notes. Conveying the energy, depth, beauty, taste and inventiveness of Beethoven’s score is an exhilarating challenge for any conductor.
