Elisenda Fàbregas (Terrassa, 1955) has developed an intense professional career as a composer, pianist and teacher. She trained at the Barcelona Municipal Conservatory of Music, she has a master's degree in piano performance from the Juilliard School, a doctorate in education from Columbia University and a doctorate in musical composition from John Hopkins University.
She has a catalog that includes compositions for symphony orchestra, concertos, chamber ensembles, piano song cycles, choral works, and solo piano works. After years in the United States, he lived in Seoul for a decade, where he wrote several orchestral works, including Accents catalans, which we will hear at the Palau performed by the OSV, a group with which we will also discover his personal Oda a la joia, commissioned del Palau, in a program with Beethoven's Ninth.
Her recent return to her native land allows us to discover the profile of a versatile composer, with a broad vision of the world, a very rich humanistic background thanks to her life experience and a long curriculum as a university professor of Western and Eastern musical cultures.
Even so, her music also delves into the Mediterranean cultural and musical tradition and into the depths of the Catalan soul, as can be seen with Bonna Domna, written on an original troubadour text. At the Palau we will listen to a select selection from her extensive catalog for various formations that will allow us to get to know a very multifaceted and international Catalan woman more closely.
