Details
It is always exciting to have the opportunity to see Gustavo Dudamel on stage in Barcelona. This is even more true in this case, when he will be performing for the first time as principal conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) orchestra. Dudamel will conduct a programme that includes John Williams' Olympic Fanfare and Theme and Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.” The programme also includes the Violin Concerto by Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz, commissioned by LA Phil and first performed in Los Angeles by María Dueñas, the violinist who will also perform it at the Palau. This concert is the result of a collaboration with the Gran Teatre del Liceu, a venue that will also host two performances of Beethoven's opera Fidelio, as part of a European tour around different Olympic cities.
