J. S. Bach composed five passions in praise of the suffering and death of Christ. Only two of them have been preserved, and the Palau de la Música Catalana has a tradition of scheduling them each season around Easter.

This year, the St. Matthew Passion will be performed by RIAS Kammerchor Berlin and AKAMUS, while the St. John Passion will be presented by Vox Luminis and the Freidburger Barockorchester.
